Purpose in Practice: Why Our Work Must Mean Something
“Purpose isn’t found in grand gestures — it’s built quietly through the choices we make every day.”
When I first started shaping Stories by Hennie M, I knew it couldn’t just be about creating beautiful clothing.
It had to mean something more.
I’ve always believed that true success isn’t found in how much we produce, but in the difference we make along the way. Over the years, I’ve met so many women — talented, capable, and creative — who have struggled to find a way back into the workforce after a break, an illness, or simply life taking a different turn. Not because they lack skill or ambition, but because they haven’t been given the opportunity to start again.
That thought stayed with me. And as Stories by Hennie M slowly began to take form, I knew that if I was going to build something of my own, it needed to hold space for others too.
I’m still at the beginning of that journey — this is a small brand, built from passion and persistence — but from day one, my vision has been clear: to create a company that gives back through opportunity, not just intention.
Our goal is to work with people and partners who share those same values: female-led companies, small ateliers, craftspeople, and collaborators who believe in the value of flexibility, inclusion, and creativity. Over time, I want Stories by Hennie M to offer real experience to women who may not fit into traditional work models — whether because of family life, illness, or missing credentials — but who have skill, drive, and heart.
This isn’t about charity. It’s about balance. It’s about recognising potential in places that are often overlooked, and believing that creativity thrives when people feel safe, trusted, and valued.
For me, this brand is a way to align passion with purpose — to take something I love deeply, and turn it into a platform for growth and meaning. If Stories by Hennie M can make even a small difference — by opening doors, offering confidence, or helping someone find their way back to their craft — then it will have achieved what it was always meant to.
Purpose doesn’t live in grand gestures. It’s built, quietly, through the choices we make every day — who we work with, how we treat others, and what we stand for.
And that’s the kind of story I want this brand to tell.
With warmth,
Hennie
